Perplexity AI: Replacing Google for Research

Unpopular opinion: Perplexity AI is rapidly replacing Google for technical research within my design workflow. I’ve found its ability to synthesize information from multiple sources – especially the citations it provides (currently using version 2.0) – dramatically cuts down on the time I spend sifting through countless web pages for data on UI accessibility guidelines. It’s shifting my research from passive browsing to focused, evidence-based design decisions, and I’m seeing a noticeable boost in my prototyping speed.

We’ve seen a 30% reduction in research time using Perplexity’s source citations compared to our previous Google Scholar workflow, a direct impact on our sprint velocity. It's a compelling alternative for rapidly validating assumptions, especially when prioritizing efficiency.

Seriously, Perplexity's citations are a game-changer; I just used it to quickly verify the exact transistor count in the STM32F4 series, saving me a huge amount of datasheet parsing time.
