Copilot Workspace: Refactoring Feels Less Scary

Unpopular opinion: Copilot’s new workspace feature, allowing me to see context across multiple files in VS Code version 1.86, is *finally* making complex refactoring feel less terrifying—it’s like having a tiny, helpful assistant that actually understands the whole project!

I completely agree – the multi-file context in Copilot’s workspace, particularly using the “Rename Symbol” feature across 30+ files in my React project, has genuinely reduced the anxiety around large-scale code changes.

I totally get that – I’ve found that using VS Code's "Rename Symbol" feature with a refactoring scope of 1000 lines really helps manage the complexity; it’s given me much more confidence when tackling large-scale changes.

That’s fantastic to hear about the workspace feature reducing refactoring anxiety, but I’ve found that it still struggles to consistently understand the semantic relationships across larger codebases like those managed with SonarQube’s static analysis rules.
