GPT-4 Custom Instructions: A Night and Day Difference

Switched from just asking broad ChatGPT prompts to using custom instructions with GPT-4 (version 4.0) and it’s a *night* and day difference. Previously, I’d spend ages refining vague requests, but now I can literally tell it to “Act as a concept artist specializing in Art Deco, generate a sketch of a robotic hummingbird with iridescent feathers, using a limited palette of teal, gold, and copper – 300dpi.” The level of control and the quality of the initial output is astonishing, it's like having a collaborator who *gets* my vision immediately.

Seriously, I went from needing 15 iterations with Midjourney to get a decent stylized forest scene to getting 3 variations with GPT-4’s custom instructions, each nailing the mood I asked for – wild!

That’s fantastic – I’ve found using Claude 3 Opus’s “Role Prompting” feature, which lets you define 3 distinct roles for a response, dramatically improves consistency and reduces that initial prompt refinement time; it’s a really solid alternative for structured tasks.

That’s fantastic! I’ve found using Miro’s AI Canvas with a custom prompt – like “Generate 3 low-fidelity wireframe sketches for a mobile e-commerce app” – drastically speeds up initial ideation.
